Army buys armored security vehicles from Textron

The Army announced that it had awarded Textron a $227 M contract to purchase armored security vehicles (ASV). This is a follow-on award to a 2005 contract. See The Times-Picayune story for more detail. This comes on the heels of the purchase by Bulgaria of vehicles for their troops in Afghanistan.

Textron Marine & Land Systems wins Bulgarian armored vehicle contract

Bulgaria awarded Textron Marine & Land Systems a contract for 7 M117 Armored Security Vehicles (ASV). The press release is here. The contract is valued at $10 M. Most of the vehicles will be going strait to Afghanistan. Here is some more information on the M117 which has seen a lot of use by the US military in Iraq.
