KC-X Advertisement Makes DoD Unhappy

Northrop Grumman took out an ad this week in the Washington Post supporting its proposal for the KC-X mission. The Wall Street Journal reports that the content of the advertisement made folks over at DoD most unhappy. That is because it quotes an unidentified official as saying the A-330 was $3 Billion cheaper then the B-767 overall. Read more
US hires Bank of New York Mellon to manage bank bailout
On the heels of the passing by the US Government of the $700 B bank bailout bill; the US Treasury has contracted with Bank of New York Mellon to manage the program. To some it may seem surprising that the government has contracted with a bank to manage a program that will hand over large amounts of Federal funds to other banks, but probably the Treasury did not feel they had the adequate resources to run the auction program. To make matters more interesting BNY Mellon also was one of the eight banks that received the first infusion of government funds on Monday.

Air Force continues upgrading weather systems

Northrop Grumman won a contract to continue the integration and updating of US Air Force weather systems. See The Washington Post here. Northrop won a recompete as the incumbent, a position they gained by buying TRW. The contract could be worth $239 M in the end.
