Oshkosh Defense Awarded $24 Million for M-ATV Upgrade Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Feb. 18, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today it has received two awards valued at more than $24 million from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) for MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) kits for the support of communication equipment and electrical system upgrades. The combined undefinitized orders consist of more than 2,090 upgrade kits for the vehicles.

The kits will support the installation of Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) suites composed of electronic equipment such as communications hardware, jammer systems, tracking technology and driver vision enhancement. The kits also will support the addition of “silent watch” capability, which allows the M-ATV to operate C4ISR equipment for extended periods of time with reduced noise and heat signatures from the vehicle.

“The C4ISR technology and silent watch capability that these kits support will further enhance the M-ATV’s effectiveness in combat operations in Afghanistan,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “Our advanced manufacturing capabilities, highly skilled workforce and available capacity ensure these upgrades can be completed without impacting our continued rapid delivery of any of our military vehicles under contract.”

Since January 2010, Oshkosh has been incorporating the M-ATV upgrades into the production process at both its M-ATV production facilities, Oshkosh and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command will install the upgrade kits on vehicles already built.

Oshkosh has exceeded the accelerated M-ATV delivery schedule for seven consecutive months. To date, the aggregate amount of awards Oshkosh has received for 6,619 M-ATVs, upgrade kits, spare parts kits and aftermarket support is valued at more than $4 billion. Existing Oshkosh manufacturing facilities have available production capacity for these M-ATV orders and all other Defense programs, including the U.S. Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production.

The Oshkosh® M-ATV uses the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system for superior mobility in harsh environments, including 16 inches of independent wheel travel and a 70 percent off-road profile capability. The TAK-4 system has undergone more than 500,000 miles of government testing and is being retrofitted on more than 2,400 legacy MRAPs for improved mobility in Afghanistan. LVSR2Oshkosh Defense Awarded $5 Million LVSR Delivery Order

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Dec. 23, 2009 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has been awarded a delivery order to an existing contract with the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) for more than 10 Logistics Vehicle System Replacements (LVSR). The delivery order for the cargo variant of the vehicle is valued at more than $5 million and brings the total number of LVSRs under contract to 875.

Production and delivery of the LVSRs will be completed in October 2010, with all variants manufactured in the company’s Wisconsin facilities. Oshkosh delivered its requirement of nearly 40 LVSRs in November, and set a record production number for the program when it produced more than 40 in October.

HEMTTOshkosh Defense Awarded $801 Million Delivery Order for New and Recapitalized HEMTTs, PLS Trailers

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Sept. 29, 2009 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today that its Defense division has received a delivery order valued at $801 million from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) for more than 2,450 new and recapitalized Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) and Palletized Load System Trailers (PLST). Work is expected to be completed by May 2011.

The delivery order calls for Oshkosh Defense to produce more than 1,190 new next-generation HEMTT A4s, more than 180 new HEMTT A2s and more than 80 PLSTs for the U.S. Army. Oshkosh also will deliver more than 1,020 recapitalized HEMTT A4s.

“As an industry-leading designer and manufacturer of tactical wheeled vehicles and the Army’s Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV), Oshkosh continues to deliver high-performance vehicles and respond to our customer’s needs in a timely manner,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “Our recapitalization services complement our robust manufacturing capabilities and ultimately provide like-new vehicles to our soldiers at a lower cost to the taxpayer.”

Oshkosh has produced more than 67,000 military-class vehicles at its facilities, including more than 30,000 FHTV vehicles. Oshkosh has the available capacity, highly skilled workforce and proven manufacturing capability to deliver this FHTV order as well as vehicles for other Army and Defense programs, including the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) and Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV).

The Oshkosh® HEMTT’s 13-ton payload and off-road capabilities make it the backbone for the U.S. Army’s logistics fleet. Since its introduction in 1985, the HEMTT has helped keep the Army on the move during major conflicts such as Operations Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Improvements to create the HEMTT A4 include: a fully air-conditioned and armor-ready cab; more powerful drivetrain; improved suspension; and other structural changes to make installation of add-on armor in the field quicker and easier.

Built to load and unload a variety of cargo, the PLS is designed to meet the U.S. Army’s distribution and resupply needs in even the most challenging military missions. The PLS truck and trailer form a self-contained system that reduces the need for forklifts or other material-handling equipment. Additionally, they both carry a demountable cargo bed, also known as a flatrack that features a 16.5-ton payload capacity.

Through Oshkosh’s remanufacturing and recapitalization services, heavily used vehicles are returned to Oshkosh, stripped to their frame rails, completely rebuilt to like-new condition and upgraded to the new A4 configuration. Recapitalized vehicles are considered to have zero miles and zero hours, at a significantly reduced cost compared to new vehicles. These vehicles are put through the same road tests, performance tests and inspection procedures as new vehicles before being delivered with the same bumper-to-bumper warranty provided for new HEMTTs.

Oshkosh Defense Awarded Additional 352 M-ATVs worth $189 Million — Press Release

Oshkosh M-ATV 2Oshkosh Defense Awarded Additional 352 M-ATVs worth $189 Million

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Sept. 14 2009 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) announced today it has received an additional $189 million award from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to deliver an additional 352 MRAP All Terrain Vehicles (M-ATV) to the U.S. Armed Forces by March 2010. The award also includes aftermarket parts packages.

This is the third award under the delivery order first awarded in June 2009. To date, TACOM LCMC has ordered a total of 4,296 M-ATVs from Oshkosh. The aggregate amount of the three awards is valued at $2.3 billion.

“Oshkosh is committed to meeting our customer’s urgent need for this highly mobile vehicle and helping our Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan to better operate on the country’s challenging terrain,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “We have delivered more than 100 M-ATVs through August, meeting our planned delivery requirements, and we continue to increase vehicle output at our manufacturing facilities to remain on schedule and meet our customer’s requirements.”

Oshkosh expects to meet the government’s accelerated delivery schedule without impacting other programs, with production ramping up to 1,000 vehicles a month in December, and continuing at that level through the end of March 2010. The company is leveraging its
pre-contract M-ATV production and engineering efforts, robust manufacturing capabilities, a highly skilled workforce, and decades of experience in producing more than 67,000 military-class vehicles.

The Oshkosh® M-ATV’s superior mobility, which includes a 70 percent off-road profile capability, is achieved through the incorporation of the Oshkosh TAK-4® independent suspension system. The system is featured on more than 10,000 Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements (MTVR) used by the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy Seabees, and is being retrofitted on more than 2,000 legacy MRAPs for improved mobility in Afghanistan. The TAK-4 system, which has undergone more than 400,000 miles of government testing, also is used on the Army’s next-generation Palletized Load System (PLS) and the Marine Corps’ Logistics Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR).

Oshkosh Defense teamed with Plasan North America to provide an advanced armor solution for the M-ATV. Plasan also developed the armor system used on more than 5,000 legacy MRAPs and thousands of Oshkosh Armored Cab MTVRs already in theater.

Oshkosh Defense Awarded $54 Million Delivery Order for M-ATV Armor Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Dec. 24, 2009 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has received an order valued at more than $54 million from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to supply more than 970 add-on protection kits for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV).

Under the delivery order, Oshkosh will supply more than 170 explosively formed penetrator (EFP) kits through April 2010 and 800 rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) kits through May 2010. To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at $3.52 billion to deliver 6,619 M-ATVs, as well as spare kits and aftermarket in-theater support.

“The M-ATV provides exceptional protection capabilities for our U.S. Armed Forces in Afghanistan, and these add-on armor kits will only further improve upon those capabilities,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “A flexible design and advanced independent suspension system allows the vehicle to take on additional payloads, including add-on armor upgrades.”

Oshkosh Defense teamed with Plasan North America to provide an advanced armor solution for the M-ATV. Plasan also developed the armor system used on more than 5,000 legacy MRAPs and thousands of Oshkosh Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) Armored Cabs already in theater.

The M-ATV uses the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system to provide superior off-road mobility as well as support vehicle upgrades, such as heavier armor. The system, which has undergone more than 500,000 miles of government testing, provides 16 inches of independent wheel travel and helps the vehicle achieve a 70-percent off-road profile capability to negotiate harsh cross-country terrain and unimproved roads.

Existing Oshkosh facilities have the capacity, highly skilled workforce and proven manufacturing capability to deliver the M-ATV and vehicles for all other Army and Defense programs, including the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production.
