Oshkosh Defense to Provide Additional M-ATV Protection Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. (January 10, 2011) – Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), will deliver 800 protection kits for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) following an order from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC).

“These protection kits are part of our ongoing work with the military to deliver exceptional M-ATV survivability against evolving threats on the modern battlefield,” said Charlie Szews, Oshkosh Corporation president and chief executive officer. “The rapid production and delivery of these kits is the result of a close collaboration with our customer and our shared commitment to the Warfighters. Oshkosh Defense to Deliver Additional M-ATV Variants for U.S. Special Operations Forces — Press Release

Oshkosh Defense to Deliver Additional M-ATV Variants for U.S. Special Operations Forces

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Dec. 20, 2010) — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), will deliver more than 40 additional MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) variants for the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) as well as more than 130 spare-parts kits for the vehicle following orders from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) awarded in November and December 2010. Oshkosh worked closely with SOCOM to design the Special Forces Vehicle (SFV) variant and meet the Special Operation Forces’ demanding operational requirements.

“We continue to answer the Warfighters’ needs in theater for the armored and highly mobile M-ATV, and we have flexibility at the design, production and sustainment levels to fully support the program,” said Ken Juergens, vice president and general manager of Joint Programs for Oshkosh Defense. “The SFV variant is part of the M-ATV family of vehicles, which we designed to support the most challenging tactical operations in rugged and mountainous off-road terrain.”

Oshkosh is delivering the spare-parts kits as part of its complete sustainment support of the M-ATV fleet. The company also has received orders to provide more than 330 field service representatives (FSR) to support the vehicles with onsite technical assistance, proper maintenance procedures, correctly identifying parts, and troubleshooting techniques and maintenance training for troops.

The M-ATV SFV features alterations specific to the needs of U.S. Special Forces, including a modified cargo deck, intended to accept specialized equipment based on each mission’s requirements, and larger front windscreens for increased visibility. Vehicle deliveries are scheduled to take place in May 2011, and deliveries of the spare parts are scheduled to begin in March 2011 and be completed in June 2011. The orders have a combined ceiling price of nearly $55 million.

In addition to the SFV, Oshkosh produces the M-ATV base and tactical ambulance variant for the U.S. military. Oshkosh has received awards to date for nearly 8,400 M-ATVs, including more than 460 SFV variants, as well as spare parts kits, upgrade kits and aftermarket support.

Oshkosh is continuing to explore new potential mission solutions for the M-ATV. The company has designed the M-ATV 2.5 Cargo vehicle to support resupply operations and the M-ATV Multi-Oshkosh Defense to Deliver Additional M-ATV Variants for U.S. Special Operations Forces Dec. 20, 2010 Mission Vehicle (MMV) to support reconnaissance, missile-carrier and command-and-control operations in unforgiving landscapes.

Oshkosh Defense Receives $79 Million for M-ATV Protection and Remote Weapon System Kits — Press Release

Oshkosh Defense Receives $79 Million for M-ATV Protection and Remote Weapon System Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. — April 27, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has received two awards valued at more than $79 million from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) to supply more than 1,750 add-on rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) protection kits and more than 1,000 kits to support remote weapon systems for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV). Work for both orders is expected to be completed in September 2010.

The award for RPG protection kits is valued at more than $68 million and installation will be completed in-theater. The award for remote weapon system kits is valued at more than $11 million. Oshkosh will install these kits on the production lines and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) will install the kits on previously delivered vehicles. Remote weapon systems allow fighting crews to operate from within the vehicle, even when on the move.

“The M-ATV is designed to accept these kits and other add-on packages and still deliver exceptional survivability and performance capabilities for operations in Afghanistan,” said Ken Juergens, Oshkosh Defense vice president and general manager, Joint Programs. “We are committed to working with our Armed Forces to ensure they have the most advanced, well-protected and mobile vehicles needed to carry out missions in challenging environments.”

The Oshkosh® M-ATV uses the company’s patented TAK-4® independent suspension system. The proven technology delivers superior off-road mobility and allows the M-ATV to accept heavier armor, such as add-on explosively formed penetrator (EFP) armor packages, while maintaining a full payload of 4,000 pounds. Additionally, the vehicle’s bolt-on armor permits in-theater upgrades to meet mission demands and rapid repair of armor panels for quick turnaround times.

To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at $4.9 billion for 8,079 M-ATVs, as well as spare parts kits, upgrade kits and aftermarket support. Oshkosh also has leaned forward using its own time and resources to create an M-ATV family of vehicles with the ambulance and utility variants. The variants, built around the same highly mobile, well-protected platform, have the potential to deliver critical casualty care and resupply services in harsh environments like those found in Afghanistan.

Oshkosh Defense Receives Four Awards Valued at $19 Million to Refurbish Vehicles In-Theater — Press Release

Oshkosh Defense Receives Four Awards Valued at $19 Million to Refurbish Vehicles In-Theater

OSHKOSH, Wis. — April 8, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today it has received four awards valued at more than $19 million from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for additional work to be included under its Theater-Provided Equipment Refurbishment (TPER) program with the U.S. military. This work includes the delivery of nearly 200 refurbished heavy and line-haul vehicles, and will extend the Oshkosh Defense TPER work at its Kuwait facility to January 2011.

Oshkosh will deliver more than 140 refurbished Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV), including the Oshkosh® Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT), Palletized Load System (PLS) and Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET), as well as the HET M1000 trailer. The company also will deliver more than 50 refurbished line-haul vehicles. Oshkosh has the in-theater capabilities, including a multifaceted supply-chain management approach, to repair and refurbish non-Oshkosh products such as the trailers and line-haul vehicles.

“Oshkosh Defense and our partners in the military undertook a groundbreaking operation with the TPER program, and it has significantly benefitted fleet sustainment,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “Whether it’s routine service or vehicle upgrades, our extensive repair and recapitalization capabilities ensure mission-ready vehicles are affordably and efficiently delivered to meet the Warfighters’ needs.”

The TPER program is the result of an urgent requirement to repair and refurbish tactical wheeled vehicles operating in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The program brings vehicles that have become worn from extreme in-theater conditions back to full mission operability. Performing the work in-theater minimizes refurbishment costs, reduces maintenance cycle time and quickly returns vehicles to service. Upon completion of these efforts, more than 1,850 vehicles and trailers will have been repaired and returned to U.S. forces through the TPER program.

Oshkosh Defense Awarded $41 Million for M-ATV Protection Kits — Press Release

Oshkosh Defense Awarded $41 Million for M-ATV Protection Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. — March 29, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has received an order valued at more than $41 million from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) to supply more than 1,000 add-on rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) protection kits for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV). Timing for the work is expected to be completed by September 2010 and installation will occur in theater.

“The M-ATV provides exceptional protection capabilities for our Armed Forces in Afghanistan,” said Kenneth G. Juergens, Oshkosh Corporation vice president and general manager, Joint Programs, Defense. “These add-on RPG kits are being delivered to further bolster the security of our men and women in uniform and ensure that they continue to have the best protection available as they carry out their missions. We are committed to providing a robust aftermarket parts support program to meet our Warfighters’ needs in the field.”

Delivery of the RPG kits is one element of the complete spectrum of service and support Oshkosh Defense provides for the M-ATV fleet in the Afghan theater. The company also deploys in-theater field service representatives (FSR). Oshkosh FSRs operate service facilities at forward operating bases that require additional training or more support than internal assets can provide.

The Oshkosh M-ATV features the survivability and off-road mobility capabilities needed to operate in places like Afghanistan. To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at more than $4.75 billion for 8,079 M-ATVs, as well as spare parts kits, upgrade kits and aftermarket support. Oshkosh received the M-ATV contract award and its first delivery order in June 2009. The company quickly ramped up manufacturing to unprecedented levels, producing more than 1,000 vehicles per month as of December 2009.

U.S. Army AFFIRMS FMTV Contract AWARD to Oshkosh Corporation — Press Release

U.S. Army AFFIRMS FMTV Contract AWARD to Oshkosh Corporation

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Feb. 12, 2010 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) today announced the U.S. Army has affirmed the contract award to the Company, originally received on Aug. 26, 2009, to produce the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV).

The bids of all three competitors for the FMTV program were re-evaluated by the U.S. Army in response to recommendations made by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) following a review of competitors’ protests of the original contract award to the Company. The Army undertook an exhaustive review during this FMTV bidding process and applied fairness and rigor to its decision. Upon completion of a thorough, in-depth re-evaluation, the Army determined the contract would remain with Oshkosh. Additionally, the Army canceled the September 4, 2009, stop-work order it had issued pursuant to the GAO’s protest procedures. The Oshkosh contract allows the Army and U.S. taxpayers to begin realizing significant cost savings for the FMTV program.

“We are very pleased the Army affirmed its original decision that Oshkosh Corporation’s FMTV bid clearly represents the best overall value for the Army, the taxpayers and the Warfighter,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “Oshkosh Corporation, our employees and our suppliers stand ready to serve our customer, and we are delighted that the Army has yet again concluded that Oshkosh was the right choice. Our focus has always been on the Warfighter and making sure we deliver high-quality, high-performing vehicles on time.”

The FMTV rebuy program is a five-year, firm fixed-price requirements contract for the production of up to 23,000 vehicles and trailers, as well as support services and engineering. Oshkosh received the contract from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) with an initial delivery order valued at $280.9 million for the production and delivery of 2,568 trucks and trailers.

The FMTV is a series of vehicles consisting of up to 23 variants and 17 different models, ranging from 2.5-ton to 5-ton payloads. Oshkosh already produces the Army’s Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) and works with nearly every one of the FMTV current component suppliers across the country as integral partners in other military programs.

Oshkosh is the only current manufacturer of both medium and heavy tactical wheeled vehicles in the U.S. defense industry, having produced more than 70,000 military-class vehicles in its manufacturing facilities. Oshkosh’s manufacturing facilities have ample production capacity for all current and pending military vehicle programs, including the FMTV and the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV), as well as any surges in production. The company’s advanced and integrated assembly line facilities allow for the simultaneous production of several different vehicle models and variations. Oshkosh Corporation’s proven production capabilities were recently recognized by the National Center for Advanced Technologies (NCAT), which awarded Oshkosh with a 2009 Defense Manufacturing Excellence Award for its M-ATV launch team, which has exceeded delivery requirements for seven consecutive months.

Oshkosh Defense Receives First HEMTT A4 LET Delivery Order

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Dec. 18, 2009 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has been awarded a $56 million delivery order from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to supply the Army with the first Light Equipment Transporters (LET), a variant of the next-generation Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT A4).

The delivery order calls for Oshkosh Defense to produce more than 200 M983 HEMTT A4 LETs. Production and delivery is expected to be completed in September 2010. The award brings the U.S. Army’s total Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) contract to more than $3.2 billion. The FHTVIII contract was first awarded at the end of October 2008.

“The Oshkosh HEMTT A4 LET expands the capabilities of the U.S. Army’s logistics fleet with the transportation of various light equipment in challenging environments and as part of the Stryker Recovery System,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “The vehicle complements the other high-performance, heavy-payload HEMTT variants to keep operations on the move.”

The Oshkosh® HEMTT 13-ton payload and off-road capabilities make this vehicle the backbone of the U.S. Army’s logistics fleet. Improvements to the HEMTT A4 include: a more powerful drivetrain; improved suspension; a fully air-conditioned and armor-ready cab; and other structural changes to make installation of add-on armor in the field quicker and easier. The HEMTT A4 is built with maximum common parts across its variants.

Oshkosh has produced more than 70,000 military-class vehicles at its facilities, including more than 30,000 FHTVs. Oshkosh has the available capacity, highly skilled workforce and proven manufacturing capability to deliver this FHTV order and other vehicle orders for all Army and Defense programs, including the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) and Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production.

Oshkosh Corporation Commemorates Handoff of 1,000th M-ATV to U.S. Armed Forces — Press Release

CeremonyOshkosh Corporation Commemorates Handoff of 1,000th M-ATV to U.S. Armed Forces

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Dec. 1, 2009 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) marked the handoff of the 1,000th MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) to the U.S. Armed Forces on Nov. 30 at a ceremony with military leadership at the company’s facilities in Oshkosh, Wis.

Brig. Gen. Michael Brogan, commander of the Marine Corps Systems Command, and Lt. Col. Coll Haddon, M-ATV product manager for the MRAP Joint Program Office, were the keynote speakers at the event. Having exceeded the government’s delivery schedule for five consecutive months, Oshkosh is ramping up production to 1,000 vehicles per month in December and continuing at that level through April 2010.

“We understood the urgency of the M-ATV program to save American lives and leaned forward in advance of receiving the contract to build vehicles and prepare our operations for this high-quantity production,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “Our workforce has embraced this important mission and made countless personal sacrifices to produce these vehicles quickly to protect those that are sacrificing for our safety. They will continue to deliver these life-saving vehicles along with replacement parts and field support, as long as necessary.”

Since being awarded the production contract on June 30, 2009, Oshkosh has received four additional awards from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to supply a total of 6,219 M-ATVs. Oshkosh also has received orders for spare kits and to send its factory-trained field service representatives (FSR) to Afghanistan to provide training and maintenance support for the vehicles. The aggregate amount of the five awards is valued at $3.2 billion.

The M-ATV is the U.S. military’s newest MRAP model, combining the protection levels of legacy MRAPs with improved mobility and durability to handle Afghanistan’s mountainous cross-country terrain and unimproved roads. The vehicle uses the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system, which has undergone more than 500,000 miles of government testing, to achieve a 70-percent off-road profile capability and 16 inches of independent wheel travel. The system also is used on the Marine Corps’ Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) and Logistics Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR), as well as the Army’s Palletized Load System (PLS A1).

Existing Oshkosh Defense manufacturing facilities have available production capacity for all current and pending military vehicle programs, including the M-ATV and the U.S. Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production.

Oshkosh Defense teamed with Plasan North America to provide an advanced armor solution for the M-ATV. Plasan also developed the armor system used on more than 5,000 legacy MRAPs and thousands of Oshkosh MTVR Armored Cabs already in theater.
