OSHKOSH, Wis. (July 8, 2010) — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today it has received two orders from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) to supply 950 U.S. Army Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) trucks and trailers. Oshkosh continues to hold fast to the Army’s original FMTV delivery schedule and expects to complete deliveries for these latest awards by December 2011.

“Oshkosh remains on target for FMTV production-unit deliveries starting in October of this year, allowing our men and women in uniform to receive these essential vehicles as quickly as possible,” said Mike Ivy, vice president and general manager of Army Programs for Oshkosh Defense. “From testing and production to training and service, we intend to satisfy every Army requirement related to the FMTV program with high quality Oshkosh products delivered on schedule.”

The two delivery orders, valued at more than $136 million, include nearly 800 trucks and more than 160 trailers, increasing the total number of Oshkosh FMTV truck-and-trailer under order to 6,159. Oshkosh also will supply nearly 40 FMTV add-on armor “B” kits under the orders.

The five-year FMTV contract is for the production of up to 23,000 vehicles and trailers, as well as support services and training through fiscal 2014.

Oshkosh Defense Announces New Delivery Orders For Heavy-Duty Army Vehicles

OSHKOSH, Wis. (June 30, 2010) — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) announced today its Defense division has received two delivery orders from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for the U.S. Army’s Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV). The two delivery orders are valued at roughly $600 million, and extend production for nearly 1,900 new and recapitalized severe-duty Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT A4) vehicles, the backbone of the Army’s logistics and resupply fleet, and more than 530 Palletized Load System (PLS) trailers.

“For more than 30 years, Oshkosh HEMTTs have provided unparalleled performance to U.S. soldiers,” said Charlie Szews, Oshkosh Corporation president and chief operating officer. “The production of these next-generation vehicles and support trailers, as well as the recapitalization of existing HEMTTs to like-new condition, signifies the fleet will continue to support and protect Warfighters for decades to come.”

Through Oshkosh Defense remanufacturing and recapitalization services, heavily used vehicles are returned to Oshkosh, stripped to their frame rails, completely rebuilt to like-new condition and upgraded to the new A4 configuration. For the Oshkosh® HEMTT A4, changes include a more powerful drivetrain; improved suspension; a fully air-conditioned and armor-ready cab; and other structural changes to make in-the-field installation of add-on armor quicker and easier. Recapitalized vehicles are reset to zero miles and zero hours, and offer a significant cost savings compared to new vehicles.

HEMTT deliveries begin in July 2010 and continue through September 2011. PLS trailer production will start in June 2011 and continue through October 2011.

Oshkosh Defense Receives Awards Valued at $173 Million to Supply New and Recapitalized HEMTT A4s to U.S. Army

OSHKOSH, Wis. (June 14, 2010) — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has received a two awards valued at $173 million from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for more than 600 new and recapitalized Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT).

Oshkosh has the capacity and production expertise to remanufacture and recapitalize heavily used vehicles back to like-new condition, offering significant cost savings to the government and taxpayer. The vehicles are returned to Oshkosh, stripped to their frame rails and completely rebuilt, and upgraded to the next-generation A4 configuration if needed.

“We leverage our world-class operations to supply recapitalized vehicles that are as advanced, reliable and high-performing as our new vehicles, but at a reduced cost for our military customers,” said Mike Ivy, vice president and general manager of Army Programs for Oshkosh Defense. “These vehicles undergo the same tests and inspections as new vehicles, and have the same bumper-to-bumper warranty, before being supplied to our Warfighters.”

Under one award, valued at more than $138 million, Oshkosh will produce and deliver more than 480 M983A4 HEMTT Light Equipment Transporters (LET) and one M1120A4 HEMTT Load Handling System (LHS). Production and delivery of these vehicles is expected to begin in October 2010 and be completed in August 2011.

For the second award, valued at more than $34 million, Oshkosh will recapitalize and deliver 140 HEMTT A4 LHS and cargo truck variants. Work for this award will run June 2010 through March 2011.

The Oshkosh® HEMTT is the backbone for the U.S. Army’s logistics fleet. HEMTT LETs support soldiers with the transportation of light equipment in challenging environments and as part of the Stryker Recovery System. The HEMTT LHS uses the Oshkosh-produced Multilift load handling system to lift and transport payloads of up to 13 tons. The HEMTT cargo truck is used to haul equipment and supplies.

Oshkosh Corporation Receives $410 Million Delivery Order For Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles

OSHKOSH, Wis. May 10, 2010 – Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), a leading manufacturer of specialty vehicles and vehicle bodies, announced today that its Defense division has received a delivery order valued at more than $410 million from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for the production and delivery of 2,634 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) trucks and trailers for the U.S. Army. This award is for deliveries scheduled between March and December 2011. To date, Oshkosh Corporation has received orders valued at more than $690 million under the five-year FMTV requirements contract.

Oshkosh Corporation utilized its own resources to lean forward before its original contract award was affirmed by the Army on February 12, 2010, enabling the company to deliver FMTV vehicles and trailers according to the Army’s original schedule. The company will begin supplying initial trucks to the Army this month for performance and durability testing. Production deliveries will begin in October 2010. All Oshkosh FMTV vehicles will include the company’s Long-Term Armor Strategy (LTAS)-compliant armor solution.

“Oshkosh Corporation’s world-class production capabilities, coupled with our independent investments in this program, will ensure vehicles are delivered without any disruption to the original timeline,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “We are closely engaged with the Army and moving forward on all necessary processes to maintain this schedule and deliver high-quality trucks and trailers to meet the Warfighters’ needs.”

The five-year, multi-billion-dollar contract calls for the production of an estimated 23,000 trucks and trailers, as well as support services and training. The FMTV is a series of 17 models and 23 variants ranging from 2.5-ton to 10-ton payloads.

Oshkosh Corporation has broken ground on a new 150,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art electrocoat (E-coat) facility in Oshkosh, Wis., to support the FMTV program, and possibly other programs. Facility start-up will begin in late summer 2010. The company also announced last month that it is expanding its Michigan office with plans to move into a new facility in Warren, Mich., and hire up to 190 new employees there to support the FMTV System Technical Support (STS) work.

NAVISTAR DEFENSE RECEIVES $191 MILLION IN NEW VEHICLE AND UPGRADE ORDERS

WARRENVILLE, Ill. (May 4, 2010) Navistar Defense, LLC today announced that it has received two separate awards totaling $191 million for the delivery of new medium tactical vehicles as well as enhancements to International® MaxxPro® Dash Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) units in Afghanistan.

Under the new delivery order for medium tactical vehicles from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Life Cycle Management Command, Navistar will provide 629 additional medium tactical vehicles for $89 million. The order falls under Navistar’s three-year contract awarded in May 2008 to support the Afghan National Police and Afghan National Army. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in October 2010 and all units will be general troop transport trucks for use in Afghanistan.

“To date, we have more than 14,000 vehicles in Iraq and Afghanistan that leverage the same commercial truck platform, but operate as different medium tactical vehicle and MRAP variants,” said Archie Massicotte, president, Navistar Defense. “This commonality allows us to customize our vehicles for the mission while also accelerating the fleet support provided by our global parts and support network.”

Navistar’s second award is from the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command for $102 million for MaxxPro Dash MRAP capability insertions. Under the contract, the company will provide a number of vehicle enhancements for the 1,222 Dash units currently in Afghanistan. Installations will begin in August 2010 and be completed by the end of October 2010. These same enhancements have been incorporated into the new MaxxPro Dash vehicles with DXM™ independent suspension currently being delivered.

“Capability insertion is just one form of vehicle sustainment that Navistar provides,” said Massicotte. “Vehicle fleets have been known to operate for 15 and 20 years and we will provide all the support necessary to keep our trucks up and running and equipped with the latest and greatest technology.”

Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV) is a holding company whose subsidiaries and affiliates produce International® brand commercial and military trucks, MaxxForce® brand diesel engines, IC Bus™ brand school and commercial buses, Monaco RV brands of recreational vehicles, and Workhorse® brand chassis for motor homes and step vans. It also is a private-label designer and manufacturer of diesel engines for the pickup truck, van and SUV markets. The company also provides truck and diesel engine service parts. Another affiliate offers financing services. Additional information is available at www.Navistar.com/newsroom.

Oshkosh Defense Awarded $13 Million for HEMTT A4 Add-on Armor Kits, Fuel Tanker Self-Sealant Applications

OSHKOSH, Wis. — May 3, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has received two awards valued at more than $13 million from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for the next-generation Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT). Under an award valued at more than $8 million, Oshkosh will supply more than 90 HEMTT A4 add-on armor kits. A second award valued at more than $5 million is for the application of self-sealant coating to more than 300 new and recapitalized M978 A4 Tankers to help reduce the risk of fire during fuel transport.

The HEMTT A4’s add-on armor package, or “B Kit,” is in addition to the HEMTT A4’s factory-installed, or “A Kit,” armor and can be installed in theater. Delivery of the armor kits is expected to be completed by September 2010. The HEMTT A4 and the next-generation Palletized Load System (PLS) share a common cab, resulting in a reduced logistics footprint and streamlined training.

The award for self-sealant applications continues work that began in December 2009 and extends it to September 2010. The self-sealant coating increases safety for HEMTT Tanker crews by sealing punctures from small-arms fire or other small, high-velocity objects.

The Oshkosh HEMTT’s 13-ton payload and off-road capabilities make it the backbone for the U.S. Army’s logistics fleet. Since its introduction in 1985, the HEMTT has helped keep the Army on the move during major conflicts such as Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. The HEMTT is part of the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) built by Oshkosh, which also includes the Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) and PLS. Oshkosh has produced more than 70,000 military-class vehicles at its facilities, including more than 30,000 FHTVs.

Northrop Grumman Cobham Team Successfully Integrates VIS-X Vehicle Intercom System Into U.S. Army Stryker Systems Integration Lab
May 3, 2010

BALTIMORE –– Northrop Grumman Cobham Intercoms (NGCI) LLC, a company formed by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) and Cobham (LSE:COB), has announced the successful integration of the Vehicle Intercom System -- Expanded (VIS-X) into the U.S. Army's Stryker systems integration lab (SIL) environment at the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command in Warren, Mich.

Working with the Program Manager Stryker Brigade Combat Team, VIS-X hardware was seamlessly integrated into the Stryker SIL, replacing the AN/VIC-3 intercom system. The integration demonstrated the form, fit and function compatibility of VIS-X with AN/VIC-3 and the ability to add new communications features without increasing the system footprint or re-wiring the Stryker vehicle. VIS-X is NGCI's next-generation capability, replacing Northrop Grumman and Cobham's highly successful AN/VIC-3, of which more than 85,000 systems have been fielded.

"During our Stryker SIL integration, we demonstrated that VIS-X reduces the total electronic box count by 30 percent and increases the number of available users, radios and alarms," said John Jadik, vice president of Communications, Intelligence and Networking Solutions for Northrop Grumman's Land and Self Protection Systems Division. "Existing VIC-3 highway cables, headsets and brackets were re-used, allowing for an easy upgrade to vehicles already utilizing the AN/VIC-3 and reducing the risk associated with new vehicle implementations."

With the integration of VIS-X into future upgrades of the Stryker and other wheeled and tracked vehicles, advanced features including 10/100/1Gbit Ethernet, VoIP, SIP calls, point-to-point calling, multiple intercom groups, remote radio control, radio re-transmission, and alphanumeric displays and menus become available to the systems integrator and the warfighter. VIS-X can be used in both new production and legacy vehicle platforms, allowing the warfighter to utilize the same state-of-the-art equipment regardless of vehicle type or age.

VIS-X is being supplied under a 10-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with a not-to-exceed ceiling of $2.4 billion awarded to NGCI in 2009 by the U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Command. The VIS-X program is managed by the Vehicular Intercom Systems project office, which is part of the Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems (DCATS) project office of the Army's Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS). Under the terms of the contract, the NGCI team is required to deliver up to 500 VIS-X systems per month during the first year following completion of First Article Testing and up to 2,000 systems per month in subsequent years.

# # #

Technorati Tags:
Cobham PLC, Communications, Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC), Stryker IFV

Oshkosh Defense Receives $79 Million for M-ATV Protection and Remote Weapon System Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. — April 27, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has received two awards valued at more than $79 million from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) to supply more than 1,750 add-on rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) protection kits and more than 1,000 kits to support remote weapon systems for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV). Work for both orders is expected to be completed in September 2010.

The award for RPG protection kits is valued at more than $68 million and installation will be completed in-theater. The award for remote weapon system kits is valued at more than $11 million. Oshkosh will install these kits on the production lines and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) will install the kits on previously delivered vehicles. Remote weapon systems allow fighting crews to operate from within the vehicle, even when on the move.

“The M-ATV is designed to accept these kits and other add-on packages and still deliver exceptional survivability and performance capabilities for operations in Afghanistan,” said Ken Juergens, Oshkosh Defense vice president and general manager, Joint Programs. “We are committed to working with our Armed Forces to ensure they have the most advanced, well-protected and mobile vehicles needed to carry out missions in challenging environments.”

The Oshkosh® M-ATV uses the company’s patented TAK-4® independent suspension system. The proven technology delivers superior off-road mobility and allows the M-ATV to accept heavier armor, such as add-on explosively formed penetrator (EFP) armor packages, while maintaining a full payload of 4,000 pounds. Additionally, the vehicle’s bolt-on armor permits in-theater upgrades to meet mission demands and rapid repair of armor panels for quick turnaround times.

To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at $4.9 billion for 8,079 M-ATVs, as well as spare parts kits, upgrade kits and aftermarket support. Oshkosh also has leaned forward using its own time and resources to create an M-ATV family of vehicles with the ambulance and utility variants. The variants, built around the same highly mobile, well-protected platform, have the potential to deliver critical casualty care and resupply services in harsh environments like those found in Afghanistan.

Oshkosh Defense Receives Four Awards Valued at $19 Million to Refurbish Vehicles In-Theater

OSHKOSH, Wis. — April 8, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today it has received four awards valued at more than $19 million from the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for additional work to be included under its Theater-Provided Equipment Refurbishment (TPER) program with the U.S. military. This work includes the delivery of nearly 200 refurbished heavy and line-haul vehicles, and will extend the Oshkosh Defense TPER work at its Kuwait facility to January 2011.

Oshkosh will deliver more than 140 refurbished Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV), including the Oshkosh® Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT), Palletized Load System (PLS) and Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET), as well as the HET M1000 trailer. The company also will deliver more than 50 refurbished line-haul vehicles. Oshkosh has the in-theater capabilities, including a multifaceted supply-chain management approach, to repair and refurbish non-Oshkosh products such as the trailers and line-haul vehicles.

“Oshkosh Defense and our partners in the military undertook a groundbreaking operation with the TPER program, and it has significantly benefitted fleet sustainment,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “Whether it’s routine service or vehicle upgrades, our extensive repair and recapitalization capabilities ensure mission-ready vehicles are affordably and efficiently delivered to meet the Warfighters’ needs.”

The TPER program is the result of an urgent requirement to repair and refurbish tactical wheeled vehicles operating in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The program brings vehicles that have become worn from extreme in-theater conditions back to full mission operability. Performing the work in-theater minimizes refurbishment costs, reduces maintenance cycle time and quickly returns vehicles to service. Upon completion of these efforts, more than 1,850 vehicles and trailers will have been repaired and returned to U.S. forces through the TPER program.

To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at more than $4.75 billion for 8,079 M-ATVs, as well as spare parts kits, upgrade kits and aftermarket support. Oshkosh received the M-ATV contract award and its first delivery order in June 2009. The company quickly ramped up manufacturing to unprecedented levels, producing more than 1,000 vehicles per month as of December 2009.

Oshkosh Defense Receives $35 Million in Awards for M-ATV Interface Upgrades and Expanded Aftermarket Support

OSHKOSH, Wis. — March 8, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today it has received three awards valued at more than $35 million from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) upgrades and in-theater support. The company received two awards for more than 6,400 M-ATV Self Protection Adaptive Roller Kits (SPARKS) upgraded interface brackets, as well as an award expanding Oshkosh Defense aftermarket support in-theater that will place 18 additional Oshkosh field service representatives (FSR) in Afghanistan and six in Iraq.

SPARKS are mine roller systems designed to be fitted to tactical wheeled vehicles and are used to protect soldiers from improvised explosive devices (IED). The roller system makes contact with the IED and causes the device to detonate away from the vehicle and crew. Oshkosh M-ATVs include an existing SPARKS interface. Recently, the SPARKS mine rollers have undergone revisions under U.S. government direction. These upgraded interface brackets will allow Oshkosh® M-ATVs to be fitted with the upgraded SPARKS.

Upgrade kits will be shipped to the Defense Distribution Depot Red River in Texarkana, Texas, in June 2010. The government will ship the brackets to receiving units in theater for installation on Oshkosh M-ATVs. Oshkosh FSRs will support with installation as necessary.

Oshkosh FSRs support the M-ATV and other vehicles in-theater, providing training and the complete spectrum of service and support in Iraq and Afghanistan. Oshkosh FSRs operate at any theater forward base that would support the M-ATV and that may require more access to Oshkosh Corporation than internal assets can provide.

Oshkosh has produced the M-ATV at a rapid pace, meeting the government’s accelerated delivery schedule. To date, the aggregate amount of awards Oshkosh has received for 8,079 M-ATVs, upgrade kits, spare parts kits and aftermarket support is valued at more than $4.74 billion. In addition to providing exceptional survivability, the M-ATV uses the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system to deliver superior off-road mobility on Afghanistan’s challenging mountainous terrain and unimproved road networks.

With global operations that include service, repair and parts distribution, Oshkosh is able to support the M-ATV program’s full life-cycle sustainment as needed.

Existing Oshkosh facilities have the capacity, highly skilled workforce and proven manufacturing capability to deliver this M-ATV order and vehicles for all other Defense programs, including the U.S. Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as the capability to meet any surges in production.

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Feb. 22, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has been awarded a delivery order valued at more than $13 million from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to supply more than 35 next-generation Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) to the Army Reserve. The variants included in the order include M984A4 wreckers and M1120A4 load handling systems (LHS). Production is expected to begin in September 2010 and be completed in June 2011.

Oshkosh Defense Awarded $24 Million for M-ATV Upgrade Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Feb. 18, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today it has received two awards valued at more than $24 million from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) for MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) kits for the support of communication equipment and electrical system upgrades. The combined undefinitized orders consist of more than 2,090 upgrade kits for the vehicles.

The kits will support the installation of Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) suites composed of electronic equipment such as communications hardware, jammer systems, tracking technology and driver vision enhancement. The kits also will support the addition of “silent watch” capability, which allows the M-ATV to operate C4ISR equipment for extended periods of time with reduced noise and heat signatures from the vehicle.

“The C4ISR technology and silent watch capability that these kits support will further enhance the M-ATV’s effectiveness in combat operations in Afghanistan,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “Our advanced manufacturing capabilities, highly skilled workforce and available capacity ensure these upgrades can be completed without impacting our continued rapid delivery of any of our military vehicles under contract.”

Since January 2010, Oshkosh has been incorporating the M-ATV upgrades into the production process at both its M-ATV production facilities, Oshkosh and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command will install the upgrade kits on vehicles already built.

Oshkosh has exceeded the accelerated M-ATV delivery schedule for seven consecutive months. To date, the aggregate amount of awards Oshkosh has received for 6,619 M-ATVs, upgrade kits, spare parts kits and aftermarket support is valued at more than $4 billion. Existing Oshkosh manufacturing facilities have available production capacity for these M-ATV orders and all other Defense programs, including the U.S. Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production.

The Oshkosh® M-ATV uses the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system for superior mobility in harsh environments, including 16 inches of independent wheel travel and a 70 percent off-road profile capability. The TAK-4 system has undergone more than 500,000 miles of government testing and is being retrofitted on more than 2,400 legacy MRAPs for improved mobility in Afghanistan. The TAK-4 system is featured on more than 10,000 Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements (MTVR), used by the U.S. Marine Corps and Navy Seabees, as well as on the Army’s next-generation Palletized Load System (PLS) and the Marine Corps’ Logistics Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR).

U.S. Army AFFIRMS FMTV Contract AWARD to Oshkosh Corporation

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Feb. 12, 2010 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) today announced the U.S. Army has affirmed the contract award to the Company, originally received on Aug. 26, 2009, to produce the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV).

The bids of all three competitors for the FMTV program were re-evaluated by the U.S. Army in response to recommendations made by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) following a review of competitors’ protests of the original contract award to the Company. The Army undertook an exhaustive review during this FMTV bidding process and applied fairness and rigor to its decision. Upon completion of a thorough, in-depth re-evaluation, the Army determined the contract would remain with Oshkosh. Additionally, the Army canceled the September 4, 2009, stop-work order it had issued pursuant to the GAO’s protest procedures. The Oshkosh contract allows the Army and U.S. taxpayers to begin realizing significant cost savings for the FMTV program.

“We are very pleased the Army affirmed its original decision that Oshkosh Corporation’s FMTV bid clearly represents the best overall value for the Army, the taxpayers and the Warfighter,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “Oshkosh Corporation, our employees and our suppliers stand ready to serve our customer, and we are delighted that the Army has yet again concluded that Oshkosh was the right choice. Our focus has always been on the Warfighter and making sure we deliver high-quality, high-performing vehicles on time.”

The FMTV rebuy program is a five-year, firm fixed-price requirements contract for the production of up to 23,000 vehicles and trailers, as well as support services and engineering. Oshkosh received the contract from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) with an initial delivery order valued at $280.9 million for the production and delivery of 2,568 trucks and trailers.

The FMTV is a series of vehicles consisting of up to 23 variants and 17 different models, ranging from 2.5-ton to 5-ton payloads. Oshkosh already produces the Army’s Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) and works with nearly every one of the FMTV current component suppliers across the country as integral partners in other military programs.

Oshkosh is the only current manufacturer of both medium and heavy tactical wheeled vehicles in the U.S. defense industry, having produced more than 70,000 military-class vehicles in its manufacturing facilities. Oshkosh’s manufacturing facilities have ample production capacity for all current and pending military vehicle programs, including the FMTV and the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV), as well as any surges in production. The company’s advanced and integrated assembly line facilities allow for the simultaneous production of several different vehicle models and variations. Oshkosh Corporation’s proven production capabilities were recently recognized by the National Center for Advanced Technologies (NCAT), which awarded Oshkosh with a 2009 Defense Manufacturing Excellence Award for its M-ATV launch team, which has exceeded delivery requirements for seven consecutive months.

Oshkosh Defense Receives $84 Million Award for M-ATV Armor Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Feb. 8, 2010 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) announced today that its Defense division received an award valued at more than $84 million from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to supply more than 625 add-on armor kits for the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV).

Under the delivery order, Oshkosh will provide explosively formed penetrator (EFP) protection kits for the M-ATV. Delivery of the kits is expected to begin in April 2010 and be completed by the end of August 2010. The Oshkosh-supplied kits will include EFP armor, base door armor and a door-assist mechanism. To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at more than $4 billion to deliver 6,619 M-ATVs, as well as spare parts kits and aftermarket in-theater support.

The advanced armor system solution for the base Oshkosh M-ATV, prior to installation of EFP kits, has been battle-tested on more than 5,000 legacy MRAPs and thousands of Oshkosh® Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) Armored Cabs already in theater. Incorporation of the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system allows the M-ATV to accept add-on armor while maintaining its agile maneuverability and a full payload capacity of up to 4,000 pounds.

In addition to exceptional survivability, the M-ATV delivers superior off-road mobility for Afghanistan’s harsh mountainous terrain and unimproved roads. The TAK-4 system, which has undergone more than 500,000 miles of government testing, gives the vehicle a 70 percent off-road profile capability and 16 inches of independent wheel travel to overcome obstacles and rugged environments.

Existing Oshkosh facilities have the capacity, highly skilled workforce and proven manufacturing capability to deliver this M-ATV order and all other Defense program orders, including the U.S. Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production.

Oshkosh Defense Awarded $21 Million Delivery Order for Recapitalized HEMTT A4s

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Jan. 28, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), has been awarded a delivery order valued at more than $21 million from the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to produce more than 60 recapitalized next-generation Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks (HEMTT) A4. The order, which also includes the delivery of components and engines, is for the M984 HEMTT A4 wrecker variant. Production is expected to begin in January 2011 and be completed in April 2011. The order was issued under the Army’s Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) III contract.

Through the Oshkosh Defense remanufacturing and recapitalization services, heavily used vehicles are returned to Oshkosh, stripped to their frame rails, completely rebuilt to like-new condition and upgraded to the new A4 configuration. Recapitalized vehicles are considered to have zero miles and zero hours, and offer a significant cost savings compared to new vehicles. These vehicles are put through the same road tests, performance tests and inspection procedures as new vehicles before being delivered with the same bumper-to-bumper warranty provided for new HEMTTs.

The Oshkosh® HEMTT’s 13-ton payload and off-road capabilities make this vehicle the backbone of the U.S. Army’s logistics fleet. HEMTT A4 improvements include: a more powerful drivetrain; improved suspension; a fully air-conditioned and armor-ready cab; and other structural changes to make in-the-field installation of add-on armor quicker and easier. The HEMTT A4 is built with maximum common parts across its variants.

Oshkosh has produced more than 70,000 military-class vehicles at its facilities, including more than 30,000 FHTVs. Oshkosh has the available capacity, highly skilled workforce and proven manufacturing capability to deliver this FHTV order and other vehicle orders for all Army and Defense programs, including the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) and Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production.

Oshkosh Corporation Receives Orders Valued at $325 Million for M-ATV Parts, Repair Kits

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Jan. 25, 2010 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) today announced its Defense division received two delivery orders valued at more than $325 million from the U.S. Army Tank- automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to supply spare parts and repair kits for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV).

Timing for the delivery orders is expected to begin in August 2010 and be completed by the end of January 2011. To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at more than $3.9 billion to deliver 6,619 M-ATVs, as well as spare kits and aftermarket in-theater support.

“These M-ATV spare parts and repair kits are being produced to ensure they are available to our Armed Forces as operations require,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “We have a continued commitment to our Warfighters to keep a robust aftermarket parts support program running parallel to the needs in the field.”

Oshkosh Defense provides the complete spectrum of service and support for the M-ATV fleet in the Afghan theater. The company already has field service representatives (FSR) to support the M-ATV program in-theater. Building on its experience from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Oshkosh FSRs can operate service facilities on any of the forward operating bases that might require training and more support than internal assets can provide.

Existing Oshkosh manufacturing facilities have available production manufacturing capability to deliver these M-ATV orders and vehicles for all other Defense programs, including the U.S. Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production. The company has exceeded the accelerated vehicle delivery schedule every month since being awarded the M-ATV contract on June 30, 2009.

Using the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system, the M-ATV features a 70-percent off-road profile capability and 16 inches of independent wheel travel to deliver the superior off-road mobility that is needed for Afghanistan’s mountainous terrain and unimproved roads. The TAK-4 system is being retrofitted on more than 2,400 legacy MRAPs for improved mobility in Afghanistan and has undergone more than 500,000 miles of government testing.

Oshkosh teamed with Plasan North America to provide an advanced armor solution for the M-ATV. Plasan also developed the armor system used on more than 5,000 legacy MRAPs and thousands of Oshkosh Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) Armored Cabs already in theater.
