Oshkosh Defense Receives $35 Million in Awards for M-ATV Interface Upgrades and Expanded Aftermarket Support
OSHKOSH, Wis. — March 8, 2010 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today it has received three awards valued at more than $35 million from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC) for MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) upgrades and in-theater support. The company received two awards for more than 6,400 M-ATV Self Protection Adaptive Roller Kits (SPARKS) upgraded interface brackets, as well as an award expanding Oshkosh Defense aftermarket support in-theater that will place 18 additional Oshkosh field service representatives (FSR) in Afghanistan and six in Iraq.
SPARKS are mine roller systems designed to be fitted to tactical wheeled vehicles and are used to protect soldiers from improvised explosive devices (IED). The roller system makes contact with the IED and causes the device to detonate away from the vehicle and crew. Oshkosh M-ATVs include an existing SPARKS interface. Recently, the SPARKS mine rollers have undergone revisions under U.S. government direction. These upgraded interface brackets will allow Oshkosh® M-ATVs to be fitted with the upgraded SPARKS.
Upgrade kits will be shipped to the Defense Distribution Depot Red River in Texarkana, Texas, in June 2010. The government will ship the brackets to receiving units in theater for installation on Oshkosh M-ATVs. Oshkosh FSRs will support with installation as necessary.
Oshkosh FSRs support the M-ATV and other vehicles in-theater, providing training and the complete spectrum of service and support in Iraq and Afghanistan. Oshkosh FSRs operate at any theater forward base that would support the M-ATV and that may require more access to Oshkosh Corporation than internal assets can provide.
Oshkosh has produced the M-ATV at a rapid pace, meeting the government’s accelerated delivery schedule. To date, the aggregate amount of awards Oshkosh has received for 8,079 M-ATVs, upgrade kits, spare parts kits and aftermarket support is valued at more than $4.74 billion. In addition to providing exceptional survivability, the M-ATV uses the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system to deliver superior off-road mobility on Afghanistan’s challenging mountainous terrain and unimproved road networks.

Oshkosh Corporation Receives Orders Valued at $325 Million for M-ATV Parts, Repair Kits
OSHKOSH, Wis. — Jan. 25, 2010 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) today announced its Defense division received two delivery orders valued at more than $325 million from the U.S. Army Tank- automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC) to supply spare parts and repair kits for the MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV).
Timing for the delivery orders is expected to begin in August 2010 and be completed by the end of January 2011. To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at more than $3.9 billion to deliver 6,619 M-ATVs, as well as spare kits and aftermarket in-theater support.
“These M-ATV spare parts and repair kits are being produced to ensure they are available to our Armed Forces as operations require,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “We have a continued commitment to our Warfighters to keep a robust aftermarket parts support program running parallel to the needs in the field.”
Oshkosh Defense provides the complete spectrum of service and support for the M-ATV fleet in the Afghan theater. The company already has field service representatives (FSR) to support the M-ATV program in-theater. Building on its experience from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Oshkosh FSRs can operate service facilities on any of the forward operating bases that might require training and more support than internal assets can provide.
Existing Oshkosh manufacturing facilities have available production manufacturing capability to deliver these M-ATV orders and vehicles for all other Defense programs, including the U.S. Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), as well as any surges in production. The company has exceeded the accelerated vehicle delivery schedule every month since being awarded the M-ATV contract on June 30, 2009.
Using the Oshkosh-patented TAK-4® independent suspension system, the M-ATV features a 70-percent off-road profile capability and 16 inches of independent wheel travel to deliver the superior off-road mobility that is needed for Afghanistan’s mountainous terrain and unimproved roads. The TAK-4 system is being retrofitted on more than 2,400 legacy MRAPs for improved mobility in Afghanistan and has undergone more than 500,000 miles of government testing.
Oshkosh teamed with Plasan North America to provide an advanced armor solution for the M-ATV. Plasan also developed the armor system used on more than 5,000 legacy MRAPs and thousands of Oshkosh Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) Armored Cabs already in theater.

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Dec. 22, 2009 — Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK) announced today that it has reached a milestone production rate for the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) of 1,000 vehicles per month on December 18. The production for December is the sixth consecutive month Oshkosh exceeded delivery requirements. Since being awarded the contract on June 30, 2009, Oshkosh has been steadily ramping up production, and will continue at this rate of 1,000 vehicles per month through May 2010 to deliver the 6,619 vehicles currently under contract.
“Our employees gave a great effort to meet the aggressive production timeline for these urgently needed vehicles. These M-ATVs will help improve the safety and mobility of our soldiers and Marines in Afghanistan,” said Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer. “Staying on or ahead of our delivery schedule goes beyond the M-ATV program. Oshkosh reached the milestone by using production capacity at existing manufacturing facilities in Oshkosh, Wis. and McConnellsburg, Pa. These and other Oshkosh Corporation manufacturing facilities have available production capacity for all current and pending military vehicle programs, including the M-ATV and the U.S. Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) program, as well as any surges in production. Oshkosh uses an integrated assembly line to simultaneously produce as many as 10 vehicle models with 29 variations at its facilities.
In addition to exceeding the M-ATV’s production requirements, Oshkosh has received orders to send its fully trained field service representatives (FSR) to Afghanistan and supply spare-parts kits to provide the full spectrum of life-cycle support that will help sustain the M-ATV program. Oshkosh has the experience and infrastructure in place in the theater of operation to provide the required level of support, from parts supply to remanufacturing.
Oshkosh Defense has teamed with Plasan North America to provide an advanced armor solution for the M-ATV. Plasan also developed the armor system used on more than 5,000 legacy MRAPs and thousands of Oshkosh Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) Armored Cabs already in theater.

First Oshkosh LVSR Deployed to Afghanistan In Support of U.S. Marine Corps
OSHKOSH, Wis. — Oct. 19, 2009 — Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), announced today that the first Logistics Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR) has been deployed with the U.S. Marine Corps in Afghanistan, with two additional vehicles set to be delivered later in October. All three vehicles being delivered are cargo variants. Oshkosh is also sending two Field Service Representatives (FSR) to Afghanistan this month to provide support services for LVSR users.
The heavy-payload LVSR, which arrived in Afghanistan in September, is a next-generation replacement for the LVS and features survivability, mobility and performance improvements. The vehicle uses the industry-leading Oshkosh® TAK-4® independent suspension system and mechanical rear-steer technology to provide superior mobility on demanding off-road terrain and unimproved roads. The LVSR also features factory-installed armor as part of its crew cab and is designed to accept an add-on armor kit for increased protection.
“The fielding of this vehicle in Afghanistan is a significant milestone for both the U.S. Marine Corps and Oshkosh Defense,” said Andy Hove, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president, Defense. “The LVSR expands on the capabilities of the LVS, which has been an integral part of the Marine Corps fleet for nearly 25 years, to negotiate and overcome the most challenging environments, including those found in Afghanistan.”
The LVSR features an on-road payload capacity of 22.5 tons and an off-road payload capacity of 16.5 tons. The LVSR uses a single-source lubrication system for simplified maintenance and has a 600-horsepower C15 engine. The vehicle also uses Oshkosh’s Command Zone embedded diagnostics to monitor major vehicle systems, including the engine, transmission and brakes. Vehicle service and support is streamlined by the parts and maintenance commonality the LVSR shares with more than 10,000 fielded Oshkosh Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements (MTVR).
Oshkosh won the competitively bid indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for the LVSR in June 2006. The contract has a value of $740.2 million based on a production quantity of 1,592 vehicles.
Oshkosh’s fully trained FSRs go where the military goes and provide a full range of in-field support services, including training, maintenance support, and repair and supply services. They are stationed around the world, including in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan, and also provide a direct link to Oshkosh and its parts network.
Oshkosh Defense is a leading manufacturer of both medium and heavy tactical wheeled vehicles in the U.S. defense industry. More than 67,000 military-class vehicles have been produced in the company’s manufacturing facilities.
