Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates hosts an honor cordon to welcome the United Kingdom's Secretary of State for Defense Liam Fox to the Pentagon today at 10 a.m. EDT. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.

Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn has no public or media events on his schedule.

Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen will conduct an All Hands Call with soldiers at Fort Carson, Colo., at 9:15 a.m. MDT in the McMahon Theater.

The Senate Armed Services Committee considers the nomination of: Army Gen. David H. Petraeus for reappointment to the grade of general and to be Commander, International Security Assistance Force and Commander, U. S. Forces Afghanistan at 9:30 a.m. EDT in room SD-G50, Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Deputy Under Secretary of Defense Installations and Environment Dorthy Robyn and Director, Plans, Policy and Strategy North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command Air Force Maj. Gen. Lawrence Stutzriem testify at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee on Wind Farms at 10 a.m. EDT in room 2118 Rayburn House Office Building.

Deputy Inspector General for Auditing, Mary Ugone testifies at a hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on contracting in combat zones at 10 a.m. in room 2154, Rayburn House Office Building

Director, Defense Language Office, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense Personnel and Readiness Nancy Weaver and Director, J-1 Manpower and Personnel, Office of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Brig. Gen. Walter Golden testify at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee on foreign language and cultural awareness transformation effort at 1:30 p.m. EDT in room 2212 Rayburn House Office Building.
