The U.S. Army awarded BAE Systems (BAE:L) a contract to refurbish over five hundred M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV). The contract has a value of $145 million. BAE Systems acquired the original manufacturer of the Bradley several years ago.

With the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan the U.S. Army has spent a great deal of money on resetting and recapitalizing their forces. Because the M1 tank and M2 have not been made in several years they go through a depot process where they are rebuilt to be like new and also receive any new equipment. As operations in Iraq especially wind down the Army will be running a lot of vehicles through this process.
