“It is an honor to have Charlie as part of the Viper Aircraft team. He brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the table. We highly respect his professionalism and most importantly his strength of character,” says Scott Hanchette, president of Viper Aircraft Corporation. Added Hanchette, “Viper FanJet is the next evolution in our family of personal aircraft, and Charlie is the right leader for this product launch.”

Johnson has been consulting within the aviation industry since 2004. And according to Johnson, the Viper FanJet has far-reaching opportunities in the personal jet market. “I’ve been involved with aircraft all my life, and rarely have I been as excited as I am now about the future of personal aviation,” stated Johnson. “From concept, to design, to production, the Viper FanJet is a remarkable airplane; perfectly positioned in the market to meet demand for a low cost, high performance aircraft. The team at Viper has accumulated over 400 hours of flight time on the first ViperJet, and it is a pleasure to fly!”

Johnson began his aviation career in 1961. After completing U.S. Air Force pilot training in 1968, he accumulated over 1,000 hours of military flight time in the F-105 including a tour in Vietnam. He began his civilian career flying for Arnold Palmer, then moved to Gates Learjet. In 1979, he joined Cessna as manager of production flight test. He served in a variety of quality control and product support positions before being named Vice President, Aircraft Completion and Product Support in 1988. After numerous flight test, manufacturing and engineering promotions, Johnson was named Cessna President and COO in 1997; and retired in 2003. He has over 14,000 hours of flight time along with numerous type ratings.
