The New Zealand defense forces purchased network services and cell phones from TelstraClear and Vodafone The National Business Review reports. The incumbent, Telecom, did not win the recompete for these services. The contract could have a total worth of $58 M US.

Even though the NZ military is not the largest they do represent a significant organization that requires a large amount of IT support and phone services. They are just like any other government or corporation in these needs. This is probably a good deal of work for the two winners.
