3rd-Quarter Net Up at Northrop Grumman

The aerospace and military contractor Northrop Grumman Corporation reported today that earnings rose in the third quarter as a result of higher pension income and improved electronics sales. The company earned $132 million, or $1.86 a share, for the period, up from $128 million, or $1.83 a share, last year. The results included a charge related to the sale in July of Northrop's commercial aerostructures unit to the Carlyle Group.
